A digital supply chain expert has initiated a fresh collaboration with a globally recognised manufacturer of ejection seats and aviation safety equipment. This project is designed to enhance operational efficiency and future-proof its operations through changes to its SAP enterprise structure and other upgrades.

The consultancy has previously delivered several projects for this customer, including the deployment of the PreBilt™ solution. This implementation greatly increased operational visibility, streamlined manual processes, and improved usability for personnel.

Transition to SAP S/4HANA

As part of its digital modernisation, the manufacturer is moving from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, opting for a brownfield implementation. This approach called for a review of the existing enterprise structure, which had remained static with one plant and one warehouse, even though the company is active across three UK sites.

In early 2024, the consultancy was appointed to undertake a feasibility study and provide tailored recommendations based on SAP best practices. The proposal suggested the completion of the S/4HANA upgrade prior to introducing a revised enterprise structure, proposing the adoption of two plants and three warehouses.

Upcoming Implementation Phase

With the S/4HANA upgrade nearing its conclusion, the customer is now moving forward with the recommended enterprise structure changes. Additional system modifications identified during requirements gathering are also set for implementation. These include enhancements of PreBilt and updates to SAP to support inter-site stock transfers and Available to Promise (ATP) functionality.
